Tips for the Best July 4th BBQ at Home
This year may not be the crowded July 4th bash you’re used to, but you can still make your holiday awesome! With a little planning, your 2020 Independence Day BBQ will be one for the memory books.
Prep ahead so you can enjoy the day, too.
Even a simple celebration takes some time to put together. And the last thing you want to be doing is making potato salad while the rest of your family is playing lawn darts. So, prepare the sides in advance, marinate the meat first thing in the morning or the night before, and cross off everything you possibly can from your to-do list the day before. Then, get out there and join the competition. Speaking of family fun …
Plan some games and activities.
It’s not just any other Saturday BBQ — it’s the 4th of July! This is no time for Saturday chores. Celebrating should be an all-day event. So while the ribs or burgers are cooking, work up an appetite by playing a game of basketball or tennis with your kids (even better if you’ve got a Home Court!). Or, play another classic summer game with your family, like croquet, baseball, or cornhole. Want to keep things patriotic? How about a US-themed trivia game? Don your bathing suits.
After you work up a sweat playing games, there’s no better place to cool off than the pool! No pool of your own, yet? If you’re looking for a backyard addition that will provide a lifetime of family fun, you can’t go wrong with a pool by Orange County Pools & Spas. Get on our building schedule now! And in the meantime, how about a game of water balloon dodgeball to cool everyone off?
Let the show begin!
After dinner, when the sun sets, finish off with a family firework show, set to your own patriotic playlist. Or, since Hudson Valley is always alive with fireworks’ displays this time of year, you can just lay back in your pool, spa, or lounge chair and watch your neighbors light up the night.
However you choose to celebrate the day, we wish you a very happy 4th of July. Be sure to drop by for some pool or spa chemicals beforehand, so your water will be sparkling fresh and ready for a dip. Or, for delivery or pickup, shop our online store. Happy 4th to you and your family from Orange County Pools & Spas!
